Pique Inlaid, Victorian Tortoise Shell Pin
|
|
Back |
This is a Victorian pique inlaid
tortoise shell pin that has
a dainty inlaid design of flowers and leaves. For pique jewelry,
the tortoise shell is heated and a design is formed by drilling
dots or racks, which are generally inlaid with gold or silver rods
- this
lovely piece looks to have some mother of pearl as well. The front of
the pin has a convex shape and is oval; it measures 1-1/2"
by
1-1/8" and has the original "C" clasp. This is a lovely piece of
antique jewelry from the mid-Victorian period. These are highly
collectible.
Note: Our inventory of tortoise shell
jewelry is either antique or vintage and was imported prior to
the 1960s. Due to U.S. law prohibiting the international sale of
tortoise shell, we cannot ship these items outside the U.S. |
