Tortoise Shell Pin with Cat's Eye Shell |

| Back | This is a beautiful antique
tortoise shell pin with a cat's
eye shell. During the Victorian era, cat's eye shells were made
into jewelry which was worn to ward off the evil eye. The shells
have a natural cabochon shape and so it was easy to set them
into jewelry. The cat's eye has a dog-toothed setting. The pin measures 2-1/4" in
length and 1-1/4" in width. It was during the Victorian period
that natural materials became very popular, tortoise shell
being one of the favorites. Note: Our inventory of tortoise shell jewelry is either antique or vintage and was imported prior to the 1960s. Due to U.S. law prohibiting the international sale of tortoise shell, we cannot ship these items outside the U.S. |
