It is studded with clear rhinestones and has a red rhinestone eye. In Julia C. Carroll's book "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202" on page 24 is a picture and description of this piece. The design patent number for this pin is 129843, issued October 7, 1941. Her price for this early, unmarked Boucher brooch is $400 to $600. This is quite an amazing piece; the detail is so involved and the design is exquisite. It measures 3-1/2" by 3". For being 66 years old, it has a surprisingly small amount of enamel missing on the back of a tail feather. |
